The blend of art and technique is a leitmotiv of Art Deco, and here is demonstrated by the magnificent vase by Dagobert Peche, decorated with a spray gun and on display at the exhibition ‘Art Déco. Il trionfo della modernità’ at Palazzo Reale in Milan.
According to the curator Valerio Terraroli, here talking to the historian and design critic Domitilla Dardi, between the Twenties and Thirties the artistic Avant-Garde movement brought a level of consciousness to the artistic debate of the early 20th century.
Art Deco absorbs the decorative codes of the Avant-Garde, based on simple, geometric patterns created using new techniques, including spray guns. This dynamic reminds us of the spray cans used in Pop Art and Street Art!
One interesting example of how innovation and creativity influence each other: with humus® we will be exploring these connections in modern times.
